Experts in culture and politics matured a reflection on the value of the monument of Mount Nkol-Nyada and what is needed to improve its functioning, this Wednesday, November 02, 2022.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

It was an audience of hand-picked experts who faced students from ASMAC, Iric, the University of Central Africa and the University of Yaounde I. It was in favour of a round table, held in the inaugural room of the Palais des Congr\u00e8s in Yaound\u00e9, this Wednesday, November 02, 2022.<\/p>\n\n

The theme was the same as that assigned to the 40th anniversary of the Conference Centre, namely: “the Conference Centre, 40 years at the service of the political, social, cultural, economic and diplomatic influence of Cameroon”.<\/em> The consultation was moderated by Prof. Daniel Abwa, the historian. Pr Mathias Eric Owona Nguni, political scientist and Vice-Rector of the University of Yaounde I, was part of the panel and was to comment on the political dimension and international relations of the Conference Centre.<\/p>\n\n

From the outset, he described the Conference Centre as a place of meaning and power. His presentation taught the audience that the Conference Centre is a mythical place which has housed the works of eminent personalities from Cameroon and Africa, in particular the tripartite of 1991, the 24th<\/sup> summit of Ud\u00e9ac on 06 and 09 December 1988, to name but a few.<\/p>\n\n

Regarding the cultural dimension, this heritage served as a framework for the National Day of Photography in 2015.<\/p>\n\n

However, suggestions were made to the CEO, Christophe Mien Zok, by the audience and other panellists about improvements to be made to the operation of the Conference Centre. In particular, the creation, for example, of a translation school or a documentation centre, etc.<\/p>\n\n

Faced with these grievances, the general manager of the Conference Centre reacted. \u00ab \u201cThe administrative procedures are so long. I am delighted that we have been able to bring together very high-level panellists here, experts in the field of culture. The contributions that have been made make it possible to envisage a certain number of projects for the future. I can’t tell you it will be done. But these are all avenues that we must explore to continue to improve our operations. It is obvious that 40 years later, the Palais des Congr\u00e8s still has achievements. But, there are still areas that the Palais des Congr\u00e8s has yet to explore. It is therefore important to have a database for all the events organized there, as well as a media library. This could bring us some money,<\/em> \u201dsaid the CEO of the Conference Centre, Christophe Mien Zok.<\/p>\n\n

The day continued with the screening of films for the great pleasure of the students of the Lyc\u00e9e de Tsinga. Just after, a show followed under the thundering rhythm of Mbole.<\/p>\n\n
